Brain Friends Support App
Commissioned by the Shih Wing Ching Foundation, i2 developed the ‘Brain Friends’ mobile app to support people living with cognitive impairment and their caregivers through Zoom-based online services. The app offers real-time chat and urgent consultation — users simply download the ‘Brain Friends’ app and tap either ‘I’d like to chat’ or ‘I need help’ to connect with a counsellor.
Beyond counselling, the app delivers up-to-date weather forecasts, Chinese calendar information, news updates, and caregiver resources.
Its minimalist interface — enhanced with voice prompts and full WCAG 2 AA compliance — ensures accessibility for diverse users, including older adults and people with visual impairments.
Counsellors can toggle between online and offline status flexibly, whether on or off duty. When case volume peaks, users are placed in a virtual queue.
Administrators monitor case status via the Content Management System (CMS). During high demand, they can push real-time alerts to counsellors for immediate support — or send follow-up notifications to users when further consultation is required.
